Minecraft mobile revenue surges 44% following movie release

Mobile in-app purchases for Minecraft rose 44% after the release of A Minecraft Movie.
That's according to a new transmedia report from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower which showed that active users also saw a 9% increase on mobile and 41% for console.
From January to mid-May 2025, Minecraft mobile and console daily active users showed consistent weekly patterns, with mobile DAUs ranging between 8.5 million and 10.5m.
A noticeable spike occurred in early April, coinciding with the Minecraft movie release. During this period, mobile DAUs peaked at over 10.5m.
In April, we reported that Minecraft’s mobile revenue hit a three-year high with $969,000 in gross player spending, the game's best single-day performance since December 25th, 2021, according to AppMagic estimates.
Fallout peak
Sensor Tower's report also showed that the release of the Fallout TV show, meanwhile, sparked a surge in engagement across related game titles. Fallout Shelter saw daily active users jump by 77% on mobile while in-app purchase revenue climbed 150%.
Moreover, the game's mobile IAP revenue surged to nearly $550,000 daily, while Fallout 4 PC daily unit sales peaked at over 25,000 units.
This peak occurred around mid-April and tapered off over the following months, returning to baseline by July 2024.
