Big shifts at Netflix
In April, the company cancelled its Netflix Stories interactive fiction IP as part of a shift in its games strategy.
Soon after in the same month, we wrote about how Netflix Games has made "decent progress" but remains on a "multiyear iterative journey", according to co-CEO, president and director Gregory Peters.
Elsewhere, former Netflix VP of Games Mike Verdu departed the company after nearly four years. Verdu first joined in 2021 to lead Netflix’s gaming push but later transitioned to VP of GenAI for games.
Earlier this month, Verdu and Zynga founder Mark Pincus launched a new AI startup called Playful.AI, with both serving as co-CEOs. The company, based in San Francisco, also includes former Netflix GenAI director Richard Sun as CTO.
