While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.

And with a collection of Switch 2 games confirmed this week - but not releasing until later this year - there's all the more reason to get stuck into the latest mobile has to offer right now.

So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they've made the cut.

Steel Paws

Netflix Games’ subscription-based offerings have expanded yet again with a brand-new release, Steel Paws.

Developed by YS Net in collaboration with Yu Suzuki, the title follows one girl and her robot pals on their journey to the top of a strange tower that reappears each century.

The Game of Life 2+

Based on the classic Game of Life board game, Marmalade Game Studio’s The Game of Life 2+ is an official Hasbro title that’s just arrived at a new space on Apple Arcade.

The regular mobile version previously won Best Digital Board Game at the Pocket Gamer Awards. The Apple Arcade edition features all those winning qualities in addition to new customisation options and exclusive new jobs.

Eighth Era

Indie studio Nice Gang’s Eighth Era is a new squad-based PvP title out now on iOS and Android. Developed in collaboration with Perfect Day Games, the combat-fuelled RPG is all about building that perfect team and taking down foes.

There are more than 50 heroes to choose from.

Disney Magic Match 3D

Disney’s mobile adventures continue to ramp up with the addition of Disney Magic Match 3D, a puzzle adventure developed by Jam City - out now in soft launch.

Naturally, the title features plenty of characters and items from beloved Disney IPs from Toy Story to Aladdin, continuing to expand the brand after the likes of Disney Realm Breakers, Disney Step and Disney Pixel RPG in 2024.

Backyard Baseball ‘97

With over 30 cartoon characters to choose from, Playground Productions’ premium game Backyard Baseball ’97 has burst onto mobile with plenty of bats, balls and banter.

Players can leverage power-ups, fireball pitches, super strength and Pablo Sanchez to their advantage on their way to victory, all towards claiming that coveted cup.
