Nexon has posted its financials for its Q3 FY17 for the three months ending September 30th 2017.

It saw revenues of $532.9 million for the quarter, up 36% year-on-year. Profits grew by an impressive 157% year-on-year to $173 million for the period.

Breaking this down further, its mobile games generated $120.4 million for the quarter, up 39% year-on-year. Mobile revenues outside of Japan grew 51% year-on-year to $94.5 million.

The rise and fall

Key drivers of mobile revenues were FIFA Online 3 M, Dark Avenger 3, and AxE in South Korea, while DomiNations and Dynasty Warriors Unleashed grew in the West. However, sales in Heroes of Incredible Tales have started to fall across the board.

Looking ahead, the company is still working on a mobile edition of Dungeon&Fighter for China, and is launching new game OVERHIT in Korea later in November. It currently has nine games in its pipeline to be launched in Q4 and beyond.

Nexon expects its Pixelberry acquisition to significantly grow its North America revenues in its next quarter. It is also looking to expand the interactive fiction studio's game Choices into Asia in the future.
