Community-driven platform Oncade has raised $4 million in a seed round to strengthen player engagement.

The company said it will use the funds to transform how mobile and PC games are distributed and monetised by allowing developers to sell directly to players off-platform through community-driven game stores.

The seed round was led by a16z CSX, with participation from founders and a network of industry leaders.

“Building a movement"

Headquartered in San Francisco, Oncade’s founding team includes industry veterans bringing over 35 years of combined experience from triple-A studios and live service games.

Co-founders include Stavros Lee (formerly of EA, Activision, Meta, Coinbase) and ex-Call of Duty multiplayer lead Greg Reisdorf.

Backed by a stablecoin protocol, the platform lets developers and players create, sell and earn through affiliate roles.

“In gaming, the value distribution is broken," said Lee.

“The people driving value - studios, players, creators, and communities - aren’t earning their proper share of the financial rewards. We’re here to change that.”

Reisdorf added: “We’re not just building a platform - we’re building a movement. The next era of gaming belongs to empowered communities and collaborative studios.”
