Opus Major raises $10m to develop debut game and expand team

Global game studio Opus Major has raised $10 in a seed round.
The new studio will use the funds to develop its debut title, currently codenamed Opus #1, with a limited-access playable version planned for this year.
Opus Major is also expanding its team, seeking developers, designers, and creatives to join and create games by leveraging the power of music and “make the world jam together".
Based in Paris, Opus Major is led by CEO and co-founder Jean-Nicolas Vernin. He previously held roles as former executive producer and editorial director at Gameloft and co-founded Madbox as CEO and chief production officer.
Co-founder and chief creative officer Pierre-Armand Nicq also leads Opus Major. After a five-year stint at Ubisoft, he joined Madbox in 2021 before co-founding Opus Major in 2023.
The seed round was led by Griffin Gaming Partners and early investor Alven.
“The power of music"
“Our mission at Opus Major is to make the world jam together. We have experienced countless joyful memories while playing music and video games with friends," said the founders.
“Our original spark came from a simple idea: can we bring them both together and build a great social adventure where music is magic? A multiplayer game where you could form a band of heroes with your friends and save the world through the power of music?
“We decided to build our first opus to fulfill this mission. We have been working hard with our team of jammers to offer a first glimpse of our universe in 2025."
