Roblox’s peak concurrent user count hits record 47.4m as Steal a Brainrot and Grow a Garden compete

Date | Type | Companies Involved | Key Datapoint |
---|---|---|---|
Aug 27, 2025 | milestone | Roblox | 47.4 million concurrent users |
- Grow a Garden peaked at 21.3 million concurrent users this June.
- Now, Steal a Brainrot is the second game to surpass 20 million.
Roblox’s peak concurrent user count has hit a record 47.4 million this month, outperforming July’s 32.7m concurrent users by 45%.
The July figure was already a record for the platform, as Roblox continues to smash its own achievements in single experiences and platform-wide.
Steal a Brainrot has also become the platform’s second game to hit 20m concurrent users, achieved on August 23rd, 2025. It follows Grow a Garden to the milestone, an experience which has dramatically bolstered Roblox since the spring.
These record figures were highlighted by Roblox strategy consultant James Purell on LinkedIn, using data from Offpath.
He compared Roblox’s new record 47.4m concurrent users to Steam’s 41.2m, though noted that Steam’s peak doesn’t account for users playing games bought through the platform - only those actively on Steam at any one time.
Even so, Grow a Garden already beat any Steam game as the most concurrently played title ever, and now Roblox as a platform has peaked at more concurrent users too.
Stealing ahead
Steal a Brainrot tasks users with stealing from other players and trolling each other in-game, whether through buying ‘slaps’ or ‘troll gear’. Its success has followed platform-wide growth and has also come through public drama with Grow a Garden.
"Steal a Brainrot became only the second game ever on Roblox to hit 20m concurrent users. Grow a Garden hit 21.1m. Developers Jandel and Sammy (owners of the experiences) spent the week throwing shade at each other on Twitter and Discord, with their communities picking sides," said Purell.
"Whether it was real beef or marketing genius, it worked. Both games exploded."
Meanwhile, the Roblox platform has seen its peak concurrent user count grow for the fifth consecutive quarter. Year-over-year, that peak has risen by 347%, up from 10.6m in Q3 2024 to the new record 47.4m in Q3 2025.

However, while more users are playing at the same time than ever, concerns persist around user safety and child protection protocols. Roblox launched its AI-based Sentinel to monitor for early warning signs of grooming, and is working with law enforcement to crack down on illegal activity.
At the same time, the platform has requested "vigilante" users stop attempting to entrap criminals, and to instead leave this to professionals.
"While Roblox corporate deals with PR issues, developers like Jandel and Sammy are building experiences that millions of kids can't stop playing. They're the ones pushing the platform forward with innovation and community building," Purell added.
"Yes, Roblox 100% needs to do better on safety, but these developers are creating the content that keeps 47m people engaged. They're the real engine behind the numbers - not Roblox corporate."
Despite efforts to improve protection measures, and despite this record year for the platform’s users thus far, Roblox’s shares have taken a downward turn over the past month, from a peak of $137.79 on July 31st to $122.26 on August 27th.
However, Roblox has more than doubled its share value since the beginning of 2025.
