Mobile gaming company Spoilz has secured a strategic investment round.
The Saudi-based studio said it will use the funds to accelerate the development of new IP, form partnerships, train local talent, and improve monetisation.
Investment firm Impact46 led the round with backing from additional strategic investors. Spoilz added that the funding will drive its mission to create “world-class" mobile games and nurture the next generation of Saudi developers, designers, and industry professionals.
The full investment figure was not disclosed.
Spoilz was founded in 2020 by chief executive officer Musab Almalki. The developer has generated two million players globally and previously topped the App Store charts in six countries.
The investment is part of the National Development Fund’s (NDF) efforts to drive innovation and growth in Saudi Arabia’s gaming industry in collaboration with the Social Development Bank and the Saudi Esports Federation.
Next level
“With the support of Impact46 and our investors, we are taking Spoilz to the next level, building games that not only entertain millions worldwide but also create real opportunities for local talents to thrive," said CEO Musab Almalki.
“Saudi Arabia has immense potential in the gaming industry, and this investment enables us to contribute directly to its growth."
Last year we caught up with Spoilz CEO Almalki to discuss the evolving MENA games industry and changing consumer behavior towards gaming.
