Tencent (HKG:0700) has posted its financials for its Q3 FY16 for the three months ending September 30th 2016.

It posted revenues of $6.04 billion, an increase of 52% year-on-year. It also showed profits increase 42% year-on-year to $1.61 billion.

Breaking out its mobile games, Tencent said that it achieved approximately $1.44 billion in revenues across both games released and games on its social networks. This is an increase of 87% year-on-year.

Going strong

It attributed its success to increasing its portfolio of games across its services. Digital board games, PvP games, and RPGs were identified as the most successful genres for the company.

Tencent highlighted Honour of Kings as a particularly important title. It had achieved 40 million DAUs by the end of September, a new record for its non-casual games.

Tencent has had a particularly strong 2016 so far. Newzoo reported that the company had managed to generate more revenue in the first half of the year than EA or Activision have ever done in a full year.
