Tencent has won an IP infringement case after the Shenzhen Bao'an District People's Court issued a ruling in favour of the company's Peacekeeper Elite game - the China version of PUBG Mobile.

The court ruled in a first-instance judgment that Li Moumou, known online as "Xiaopang Commentary," infringed the IP rights of Peacekeeper Elite, the Chinese version of PUBG Mobile.

The defendant was found guilty of illegally decompiling and reverse-engineering the game to leak unreleased content.

The court ordered the defendant to cease the infringement, issue a public apology, and pay compensation for economic damages.

Rewards for information

Tencent said it has a strong commitment to IP protection and launched a reward system for players who provide valuable information about any violations.

Players will receive cash or equivalent rewards, encouraging community participation in safeguarding the game's content.

The Peacekeeper Elite case began in January 2022, when Li Moumou (Xiaopang Commentary) was alleged to have used illegal tools to gain access to undisclosed game design content.

He was said to have shared this leaked material in viral videos across platforms like Douyin and Kuaishou and in turn, profited illegally from the traffic.
