Riot Games’ Valorant Mobile has hit 40 million pre-registrations in China in just over 10 weeks.

Pre-registrations went live on April 21st this year but only in China, where the title will release first before its global rollout.

The number of enthusiastic players who have signed up ahead of time has already surpassed Riot Games’ League of Legends: Wild Rift, as well as global pre-registration figures from mobile giants like HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.

The 40m figure also matches Squad Busters’ pre-registrations last year, after five years without a global Supercell release - though the title went on to be less successful than its forebears.

And, Valorant Mobile’s 40m is also quickly approaching Zenless Zone Zero’s global 45m figure, another of 2024’s most anticipated mobile games.

Of course, Valorant Mobile has also been anticipated since Riot Games announced the title back in 2021.

Teaming up again

Valorant Mobile is being developed by Riot Games in partnership with Lightspeed Studios, both Tencent companies. The pair previously teamed up on League of Legends: Wild Rift, which has since earned over $1.5 billion on the country’s App Store by AppMagic estimates.

Lightspeed Studios has also worked on the local version of Riot’s Teamfight Tactics, and is currently developing Final Fantasy XIV Mobile with Square Enix. The MMORPG similarly launched in China first with a global release to follow.

As for Valorant Mobile, the timeframe for a global launch will be revealed "as our plans develop further". Updates on pre-registration milestones have been unveiled via Chinese social media site Weibo.
