Voldex has acquired Roblox's life simulator title, Brookhaven, for an undisclosed fee.
Voldex is home to many prominent UGC games across Roblox, Fortnite Creative and Minecraft. The company said the acquisition will expand its user base to more than 145 million monthly active users to become the top Roblox developer by audience.
The acquisition was funded through recent capital raises, including equity financing led by Raine Partners and contributions from Makers Fund, QIA, MIT, Tirta Ventures, and Lalotte Ventures.
As part of the deal, Raine’s Dara Leung joins Voldex’s board, while Todd Rosoff becomes an observer. The company also secured debt financing from Shamrock Capital, with participation from Ares Management Credit funds and Cadma Capital Partners.
Shaping a new digital world
Created in 2020, Brookhaven quickly became a popular Roblox destination where players can hang out, roleplay, interact, craft narratives, live in houses, drive vehicles, and more.
“This acquisition is transformational for Voldex,” said Voldex CEO and founder Alex Singer. “We’re honoured that Wolfpaq has entrusted us with Brookhaven. We’re committed to being great stewards of the incredible world he has created and the vibrant community that makes it special.”
Brookhaven creator Wolfpaq added: “I am excited for Voldex to continue building upon what makes Brookhaven fun for players worldwide, and for our dedicated fans and players to continue being whoever they want to be in Brookhaven RP.”
