Money saved from closing studios offset by increasing outsourcing costs

Gree revenues stall as it focuses efforts on live ops for SINoALICE and Another Eden

Gree has released its financials for its Q2 FY18 for the three months ending December 31st 2017.

The company posted revenues of $176.5 million for the quarter, up 4.1% year-on-year. Profits stayed relatively flat, increasing just 0.11% to $18.03 million.

Gree managed to save some money during the quarter thanks to the closure of overseas offices back in July 2017. However, increased costs from outsourcing and subcontracting essentially negated any savings made.

Keep on keeping on

Most of the developer's efforts for the quarter were focused on maintaining existing titles. SINoALICE, Another Eden, and Danmachi: Memoria Freeze all saw major content updates to maintain retention.

Looking ahead, Gree is gearing up for the launch of third-party title Library Cross Infinite on mobile, and its first game on the Nintendo Switch, Fishing Star. It currently has three third-party IP games in development for FY18, but no IP of its own.

Danmachi: Memoria Freeze, also known as Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon? Memoria Freeze, is set to come to the West in early 2018 thanks to a partnership with Crunchyroll. It amassed three million downloads in Japan in its first month of release.
