Discord has launched its new social SDK toolkit for developers.

The SDK will allow developers to leverage the platform's social features, enabling in-game communication and connectivity for all players - even without a Discord account.

Discord's social SDK works with C++, Unreal Engine, and Unity, supporting Windows 11+ and macOS, with console and mobile support on the way.

The SDK comes with features like a unified friends list, deep-linked game invites, and a rich presence, making it easier for players to connect and discover games.

Supporting developers

Discord said Its SDK also offers flexible account requirements with closed beta features for in-game communications like cross-platform messaging, linked channels, and high-quality voice chat.

This launch builds on Discord’s broader developer support initiatives, helping games drive discovery, engagement, and monetisation directly on the platform.

“For game creators from indie to AAA, Discord is where you can connect with the world's largest and most engaged community of players to fuel the growth of your game before, during, and after launch," said Discord CTO and co-founder Stanislav Vishnevskiy.

“Game discovery and retention have never been so critical, and we’re excited to help developers grow their games by reaching gamers where they are.”
