Genies partners with Unity to bring AI avatar tools and IP assets to developers

Games tech company Genies has partnered with Unity to offer game developers AI avatar and asset creation tools.
The collaboration will bring IP from games, entertainment, celebrities, and sports into the Unity Asset Store, allowing developers to use IP-driven avatars and assets through Genies’ existing partnerships.
Genies’ Smart Avatar Framework and UGC systems will be available in the Unity Asset Store and Editor in 2026, helping developers streamline avatar and asset creation.
The tech company said the tools enable integration into games, allowing developers to focus more on core gameplay. The technology also supports new gameplay genres powered by intelligent avatars and UGC tools.
A new genre for games
Genies' integration into the Unity ecosystemaims to offer customisable, emotionally responsive companions that grow smarter over time.
Unlike traditional chatbots, Genies claimed its Smart Avatars are visual, interactive, and personalised, allowing developers to create them for games or let players bring their own.
“We’ve spent six years building for a future where AI, gaming, and immersive tech collide - and AI avatars become the connective tissue,” said Genies CEO Akash Nigam. “Today, that means empowering developers to create dynamic, character-driven games through our Avatar Framework.
“But as AI becomes embedded in everyday life and people start using their own personal AI companions, we see a future where developers can use Genies, a visual layer for LLMs, to create new genres of games centered around AI avatars.”
Unity SVP of product and engine Adam Smith commented: “Game developers today are under pressure to move faster without sacrificing their creative edge.
“Integrating Genies’ AI avatars and UGC tools into Unity helps them streamline development, while unlocking creativity through rich, personalized games and paving the way for more advanced AI-powered workflows in the future.”
Genies will debut a custom landing page in the Unity Asset Store later in 2025, with full integration into the Unity Editor set for 2026.
