Tech studio Hidden Door has launched its social role-playing platform of the same name to put a twist on co-creative storytelling.

The new platform lets anyone step into the lore and settings of fictional worlds, starting with Pride and Prejudice, The Wizard of Oz, and The Crow from Pressman Film.

Upcoming additions include romantic fiction from 831 Stories, sci-fi from Alan Dean Foster and Ramez Naam, and more stories from Pressman Film.

The platform is powered by “advanced narrative systems" and offers new ways for fans to explore, expand, and remix these worlds on desktop and mobile browsers.

Reliving stories

Starting today, select worlds can be played for free via the official website. New stories and features, such as remixing and sharing with friends, will roll out in the coming months.

Completing stories in Hidden Door unlocks cards that can be reused across narratives, adding twists to familiar worlds.

“Hidden Door is the place for our fans to play within the realms of their favourite fictional worlds,” said Hidden Door CEO and co-founder Hilary Mason.

“Just as fans bond over new book releases and gather together for movie opening weekend and TV season premieres, we are building a home for fans of books, films and shows to socialise, obsess over and remix their favourite storylines.

“Hidden Door isn’t just about watching and reading stories - it’s about living them. Our platform gives fans the power to let their imagination and creativity design the story, adventure through the world and even grow the storyverse together - a true home for fans to immerse themselves in their favourite stories.”
