Mixi revenues grow to $437.1 million as Monster Strike nudges 40 million downloads

Mixi has released its financials for its Q1 FY18 for the three months ending June 30th 2017.

It posted sales of $437.1 million for the quarter, up 1.9% year-on-year. Profits also rose by 1% to $124.3 million for the period.

Breaking this down further, sales for its entertainment segment, which largely consists of Monster Strike and its related products, came to $407.4 million for the quarter. This represents a 2.2% growth year-on-year.

Striking again

Monster Strike remains Mixi's main product, backed up by in-game events, an anime that has seen over 200 million views worldwide on YouTube, and a new online XFLAG store. The game is also edging ever closer to reaching 40 million unique downloads.

It wasn't all Monster Strike, however – Mixi also launched Fight League during its Q1. The game scored over one million downloads just over a week after it was first launched.

While Monster Strike remains a popular game in Asia, it didn't find the same level of success in the West. Mixi shut the game down in the US on August 1st due to a lack of interest in the region.
