Rovio soft-launches casual puzzle sequel Angry Birds Blast Island

Rovio has soft-launched what appears to be a sequel to its game Angry Birds Blast called Angry Birds Blast Island.

The game was originally launched on February 1st 2018. It is available on Android, but it is currently unclear which countries it is available in.

Much like the game it shares a title with, Angry Birds Blast Island will see players popping balloons containing the titular birds to progress. Over 500 levels are promised, along with daily, weekly, and monthly events.

Blasting off

Angry Birds Blast Island is the first new soft-launched game from Rovio since Business Time, which was initially launched back in March 2017. It has yet to be launched worldwide.

Rovio IPO'd in September 2017 with a valuation of up to $1 billion. Its first month as a public company saw little fluctuation in its share price, promising a strong start.

However, share prices plummeted 20% following the company's first ever financials, which revealed that profits fell 70% due to increased user acquisition spending.
