Games publisher Square Enix has (TYO:9684) announced its financial results for the 9 months ending December 31, 2010.

Sales for its mobile phone content division, which includes games, portal services, ring tones and wallpapers, was ¥7.5 billion (around $84 million), down 9 percent year-on-year.

However, the section's operating income was ¥3 billion ($35 million), up 5 percent.

This is first fiscal year in which Square Enix has included sales from the fully owned Japanese publisher Taito and UK publisher Eidos.

Levelling up

Overall, the company posted net sales of ¥135 billion (around $1.5 billion), up 31 percent compared to the same period in 2008.

Operating income was ¥21 billion ($240 million), up 68 percent, while net income was ¥7.8 billion ($87 million), up 48 percent year-on-year.

Square Enix completed the period with total current assets of ¥167 billion ($1.9 billion), up 6 percent compared to 9 months ago.
