Supercell has won Best Developer at the Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards 2025.
Celebrating mobile game makers everywhere, PocketGamer.biz awarded the standout stars of the industry with fresh accolades at Gamescom.
Tailor-made to reward all the creators, makers, movers and shakers that make mobile games happen, we spent the night cheering on finalists and unveiling winners across 24 categories.
Here, we’re focusing on the top developer of the past year, Supercell.
Lightning strikes twice

From acquiring Space Ape to establish a London studio, to hosting its new multi-game competitive event SuperFest, to the launch of Mo.co and beyond, Supercell’s past 12 months have been packed with activity.
They’ve been packed with revenue too, as the Clash of Clans maker generated a record-breaking $3 billion across its games portfolio in 2024. This was achieved as a result of growth across all of its live games - a feat accomplished for the first time in a decade.
Such success came in the same year as Brawl Star’s unprecedented comeback, when nine consecutive months of player spending growth helped bolster the game beyond even its launch period in 2018, according to AppMagic data.
Since then, lightning has struck twice for Supercell with Clash Royale currently on a similar course. The best-performing game in Supercell’s portfolio right now, Clash Royale achieved an eight-year high in player spending last month and has seen 251% growth year-over-year. It’s even outearning Brawl Stars and Clash Royale combined.

Hay Day has also seen "growth virality" in active users 12 years after launch.
In with the new
And it isn’t just old titles receiving a second wind. Supercell’s Squad Busters was the second top-grossing Western mobile game released in 2024 and the team has been continuing to innovate since, overhauling gameplay for version 2.0 as the title still has room to improve compared to its predecessors.
Even more recently, Supercell launched its seventh global game Mo.co with an unconventional marketing campaign. Curious fans were able to download the portal-hopping game only if they found a limited-time QR code or received a direct invite from another player at Level 5 or above. This encouraged the community to share findings and dish out invitations until the global launch went live in a more classic sense.
Next up, Supercell’s been testing a title called Boat Game whilst expanding its established brands outside of games - including the Clash of Clans Tabletop Game and CLASH, an upcoming Netflix show.
