Game monetisation and publishing platform FGL Games has launched its new portal for new online web titles.

The new portal comes with a “special section" of flash games to relive old memories. The platform first launched as a marketplace connecting indie Flash game developers with publishers.

As app store challenges push developers to explore new territories, FGL has returned to support developers on web platforms once again.

“In essence FGL’s services have not changed much," said FGL business development manager and publishing specialist Martine Spaans.

“It has always been about supporting and empowering indie developers and enabling the best opportunities for casual games. Whether that’s on web, mobile, web3, even Roblox, and now back to web-technology!"

Minor setbacks, major comeback

During its initial launch in 2007, FGL helped popularise web game licensing, brokering nearly 7,000 deals worth over $10 million by 2012 and providing a revenue stream for developers.

FGL supported the web ecosystem with a comprehensive tool suite, including game encryption, feedback systems, automated distribution, and GamerSafe for microtransactions and cloud-based game saves.

As the Flash game market declined, FGL pivoted to become a casual mobile games publisher, retaining its innovative tools such as standardised deal agreements and a developer analytics dashboard.
