Celebrations are already underway for NetEase Games’ battle royale shooter Blood Strike, which is approaching its first anniversary later this month.

After entering soft launch in Southeast Asia in October 2023, the global launch followed on March 21st, 2024 and topped download charts in 15 countries at the time. Across mobile and PC, Blood Strike had officially recorded 50 million downloads by August 2024.

Now, with the global anniversary days away, AppMagic estimates suggest that mobile installs alone have surpassed 61m, with gross player spending on the platform totalling $22.9m - reached between Blood Strike and Blood Strike MENA.

Around the world

At 30% of global player spending or almost $7m, the US has established itself as Blood Strike’s top-spending audience despite Southeast Asia’s five-month lead.

In fact, Thailand marks the game’s top spender among the soft launch regions but is only the game’s fourth-biggest market overall, having contributed 7% of global earnings or $1.6m.

Ahead of Thailand, Brazil and Mexico comprise Blood Strike’s second and third most lucrative audiences at 17% and 14% of global spending respectively. Players in Brazil have contributed $3.8m on mobile while those in Mexico have spent $3.2m.

According to estimates, Brazil and Mexico also comprise Blood Strike’s largest mobile install bases with 22% and 16% of total downloads. Indonesia ranks third at 15% of downloads.

Notably, US-based gamers represent just 6% of the total player base, meaning their spending over the game’s first year has been overrepresentative by five times.

Despite having gone "global" almost one full year ago, a distinct Blood Strike MENA version didn't debut until November 2024.

Even more recently, Japan only received the open beta for the standard Blood Strike this January, with NetEase Games testing the FPS title in the country ahead of its official release.

Ready to celebrate

Blood Strike’s first anniversary celebrations began in full on March 13th with limited-time rewards and the Evo to the Max event, through which players can earn materials to unlock the draconic weapon The FAL - Evolved Draco.

Until April 10th, there are various log-in bonuses available, exclusive skins, a new skills system and more.
