Roblox reached 82.9 million daily active users in 2024 with 80% of those playing the popular game on mobile devices, according to Roblox's annual report.
PC was the second most popular platform at just 17%, followed by consoles at 3%.
These figures were reached as an average across the full year of 2024, the company said. This factored in users across more than 180 countries.
Despite mobile players making up 80% of that daily average, only 46% of Robux revenue was earned through the App Store and Google Play last year. App Store users contributed the bulk of this, at 30% of the year’s Robux revenue, versus Google Play’s 16%.
Roblox noted that because of this, "our application must remain interoperable with these and other popular mobile app stores and platforms".
However, the obligation to pay up to 30% of this to Apple and Google has been acknowledged as a "significant operating expense", likely to continue "for the foreseeable future".
Demographics detailed
Roblox’s report also highlighted that of its 82.9m DAUs in 2024, 56% were 16 or under and 20% were under nine years old. Its largest demographic was in the 17 to 24 age range, accounting for 25% of users.
Furthermore, at least 52% of Roblox users were male and approximately one million people were daily unique paying users in 2024. On average, users engaged with over 21 Roblox experiences per month with an average daily playtime of 2.4 hours.
21% of players were based in the US and Canada, while the remaining 79% were located elsewhere around the world. However, only 37% of Roblox’s revenue was generated outside of the US.
The report noted various "risks and challenges" in expanding outside the US in 2025, such as increased exposure to fluctuating exchange rates in addition to trade wars and tariffs.
Roblox suggested there is a "greater risk of unexpected changes in regulatory requirements", highlighting the war in Ukraine, the Israel-Hamas conflict and "evolving relations between the US and China".
The Trump administration’s tariffs have been tumultuous and unpredictable for many, with sudden delays and temporary exemptions. They caused Apple to airlift $2bn worth of iPhones out of India last month in an effort to avoid costly levies.
