It's been less than a month since GetJar launched its GetJar Gold program, yet in that time $1 million worth of premium apps have been downloaded for free, whilst download rates themselves have soared by 5,000 percent.
App developers such as Halfbrick with Age of Zombies, BBC Worldwide with Top Gear, Gamelion with Doodle Fit and Konami with Krazy Kart Racing have been involved with the program which posts new apps daily.
Other apps included in the Gold Program are Imperio, Handy Games' Guns 'n' Glory, Herocraft's Farm Frenzy and TouchType's SwiftKey X.
Most successful program ever
"Making money as an independent game developer isn't easy," said Halfbrick's Michael Dobele.
"Gold is bringing in extra money from a new global audience. This is income we wouldn't have seen otherwise."
Developers gain revenue for each download as GetJar's overall traffic and advertising income increases.
GetJar CEO Ilja Laurs was also full of praise for the program.
"This is by far the most successful program in the history of GetJar," he said.
"We are thrilled with the explosive traction the Gold program is getting and are working hard to further build out our offering to consumers and developers."
GetJar passed the 2 billion download milestone in July 2011, and currently boasts a total of 150,000 available apps.
