With its predecessor originally dismissed by many at its unveiling, shipments of Samsung's 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II are apparently accelerating, passing 5 million units in just over 60 days.
Take up of the 'phablet' is - based on Samsung's numbers - on the increase, with an initial 3 million units shipping during the device's first 30 days that's an average of around 81,000 units a day.
The last 2 million units, however, have been shipped in 24 days, averaging more than 83,000 units a day an especially impressive feat, considering the likely rush in shipments at the device's launch.
Doubling up
Samsung believes the device will, in the end, amass sales of 20 million, doubling the 10 million its predecessor clocked up in 10 months on sale.
Indeed, such success essentially after notable previous failures is already leading some commentators to question what manufacturer will be next to move into the phablet space.
By and large, Samsung currently has the loosely-defined sector to itself the likes of the discontinued Dell's Streak an early though less successful diversion - with 7-inch tablets such as Apple's iPad mini, Google's Nexus 7 and Samsung's own Galaxy Tab dubbed by many as the device's closest rivals.
However, while Apple put out early press talking of combined fourth generation and iPad mini launch sales, the company is yet to pin down either what share of iPad sales it is response for, or just how many have been shipped or sold to date.
Either way, Samsung's headline figures mean the Galaxy Note II is unlikely to go directly unchallenged for all too long.
