When Nokia unveiled its Calling All Innovators app development contest in September 2010, any talk of the Finnish firm abandoning Symbian to adopt Windows Phone would have raised eyebrows.
It's taken Nokia almost a year, however, to draw up the winners of its Ovi Store app challenge, with a total of 18 games taking home prize funds of up to $150,000.
The winners were spread across six games categories, with entrants designed to run on Nokia's original Symbian^3 N8 handset in a bid to promote development on the platform.
Opps...
51 down, two to go
Of most note was the triumph of Clapfoot Games' Tank Hero in the action and adventure category, beating out Halfbrick's Fruit Ninja in the process to take home the top prize.
Also awarded top honours were DHTeam's Dice Hero for best cards and casinos release, Qvik's Wooden Labyrinth 3D for top classics and arcades title, Sparkle by 10tons for best puzzle and strategy title, Occamy Games' Moto X Mayhem for best sports and racing game and EDU Duel Card Game by PHD Gaming for best trivia and education title.
Outside of the winners across 17 different app categories three titles named in each group - Nokia is also set to award $250,000 in cash and $1.9 million in marketing spend each to two grand prize winners, though the apps in question are yet to be announced.
The full roll of honours can be found over on Nokia's Calling All Innovators website.
