Given Apple CEO Steve Jobs questioned Google's last assertion that daily Android activations had topped 200,000 a day, expect some ramifications over the coming days following his rival's latest news.
Indeed, according to Android creator Andy Rubin and, delivered in sweet, succinct fashion via a tweet Google is now activating 300,000 Android devices daily.
Apples and Androids
The importance of the number, despite the obvious growth since Google last detailed the platform's activation rate, is that is actually tops the 275,000 iOS devices Steve Jobs claimed Apple was activating daily back in October.
At the time, Jobs acknowledged that Android was Apple's biggest competitor, but also suggested he expected iPhone to recapture any lost ground towards the end of 2010.
"They outshipped us in the June quarter as we were transitioning to iPhone 4," Jobs said.
"I imagine we will be competing with them for quite some time. We await to see whether Apple or Google was the winner in this most recent quarter."

Android's leap to 300,000 activated devices a day, however, suggests the battle between the two platforms may now be closer still.
Several US based studies have also suggested Google's OS is now outperforming iPhone in North America, while Samsung recently revealed that Galaxy S shipments in the US have topped 3 million units to date.
