Big boost for omni gaming, says Digital Chocolate boss

Trip Hawkins: 'iPhone 3.0 made my head spin'
You want more excitement around yesterday's iPhone 3.0 software announcement? You got it! Digital Chocolate boss Trip Hawkins has praised the launch.

"There were so many new features it made my head spin," he tells PocketGamer.biz.

"Peer-to-peer gaming, voice chat, access to the iPod library, streaming, landscape typing, push notification, search across apps, shake to undo, and new billing models caught my attention."

Digital Chocolate has released several iPhone games so far, including Tower Bloxx Deluxe 3D, Chocolate Shop Frenzy and 3D Brick Breaker Revolution.

He says DChoc will be looking to capitalise on the new features in iPhone 3.0.

"These are all things that make games more social and more convenient which are big requirements for Omni Gamers," he says, referring to the demographic group DChoc says it targets with its cross-platform casual franchises.

Was there anything left out of iPhone 3.0 that he'd like to have seen in there, though?

"The iTunes App Store is the most remarkable creation in the history of human commerce," he says. "Given that, it would be nice if it had a smarter Search function that was better at identifying relevance."
