Following the rumours that Tap Tap Revenge developer Tapulous had been bought by Disney, formal announcements have now been made.
In what it calls 'a merger agreement', Disney confirmed Tapulous is now a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company reporting into Disney Interactive Media Group.
Terms weren't disclosed.
Transplant the talent
As part of the deal, Tapulous' CEO and COO Bart Decrem and Andrew Lacy will take leadership roles within the DIMG mobile group, reporting to its president Steve Wadsworth.
"Mobile gaming is seeing unprecedented growth and this is the right time to invest to strengthen our position in the mobile business," said Wadsworth.
"In a short time, Bart and Andrew have built Tapulous into a successful and accomplished mobile games developer that's emerged as one of the most successful companies in the industry."
Tap Tap Happy
Over on the Tapulous blog, Bart Decrem said the merger would help the company to develop more games, more quickly and with the resources of the world's leading entertainment company.
"We will continue to develop apps that live at the intersection of music and gaming, but we'll also push into new and exciting areas of mobile social entertainment. We're literally bursting with ideas for new apps," he said.
