Mobile publisher Gameloft (GFT.PA) has announced its financial figures for FY11 Q3, the three months ending 30 September.
Consolidated sales were 40.6 million (around $55 million), up 17 percent year-on-year.
Comparing quarters in terms of constant exchange rates, however, the growth was up 21 percent.
Shifting sands
Gameloft's business is split 29 percent Europe, 28 percent in America and 43 percent in the rest of the world.
Compared to the first six months of the financial year, this split has changed with Europe dropping by, and the rest of the world increasing by, 4 percent.
Another interesting sales comparison is with US rival EA Mobile. It posted sales of $55 million for the same period, making it the first time for a year the pair have experienced the same approximate sales.
The usual suspects
During the nine months of 2011, Gameloft's total sales were 117.4 million (around $160 million), up 16 percent, or 18 percent stripping out currency variation.
As it's detailed in its recent financial statements, growth was driven by sales of Java games in emerging markets, as well as the exploding smartphone market.
Gameloft said its Q3 smartphone and tablet sales were up 60 percent year-on-year, and constituted 34 percent of total sales, or 13.8 million (around $19 million).
Six months ago, the breakdown was growth in smartphones and tablets games by 56 percent y-o-y, representing 28 percent of total sales.
