Gameloft retrospectively turns Brothers in Arms 2 and Fishing Kings into free-to-play titles
In keeping with its strategy successfully applied GT Racing: Motor Academy, Gameloft is switching more of its previously paid games over to a free-to-play model.

Released in April 2010, Brothers In Arms 2: Global Front is currently available as a full $4.99 paid version for iPhone and iPad, with free versions for each.

This provides one mission, with the remainder of the game unlocked as an IAP.

Opening the doors

Brothers In Arms 2: Global Front Free+ is a subtle twist on the concept, however, as you get the complete game for free with the option to unlock weapons via IAP to accelerate your progress.

Significantly, this version will replaced paid versions on iOS and Android, with Gameloft hoping the boost given to download numbers will convert into IAP revenue that will outstrip the relatively small sales the game is likely to be currently experiencing.

This retrospective business model is also being applied to Fishing Kings Free+; an easier move in terms of its gamesplay structure, we'd reckon.
