Halfbrick adds Android library to GetJar Gold

Virtual currency system spreading base

Halfbrick adds Android library to GetJar Gold
Australian outfit Halfbrick Studios is the latest developer to tap into GetJar's Android-based virtual currency system Gold.

The system attempts to reward loyal consumers by offering credit they can then spend on games and in-app purchases of their choice.

As a result of Halfbrick's support, the studio's library – which includes the likes of Fruit Ninja and Age of Zombies – will be added to Gold's line-up.

Fruits of labour

"We've been working with GetJar on the initial phase of GetJar Gold and will continue to work with them on the virtual currency integration so we can offer our customers a choice on how they want to pay," said Halfbrick's CEO, Shainiel Deo.

"We think this is a good alternative to monetise our premium games, and are pleased to partner with GetJar on their innovative virtual currency approach."

Halfbrick will be hoping its Android titles enjoy similar results to those of Exelentia, which is behind the Wiki Encyclopedia apps.

After incorporating GetJar's Rewards SDK, the studio claims sales of the pro version doubled.

"We were able to see a huge increase in sales and conversions fairly quickly," said Exelentia director Melvin Clough.

"Users who pay continue to do so, and those that want an alternative, now have that opportunity by earning Gold Coins. We were sceptical that adding the SDK would cannibalise our paid users, but we haven’t seen that at all."
