The sheer number of apps Apple's App Store is able to boast has been a major selling point for iPhone, with Steve Jobs himself usually making reference to its size at the firm's big press bonanzas.
It's an advantage it's set to lose in the coming months, however, according to the latest stats released by Distimo.
Up the apps
If all the major marketplaces maintain their current trajectories, Android Market will equal the App Store for iPhone in terms of size by July.
Distimo's numbers suggest Android Market has shot up from around 150,000 at the start of 2010 to around the 220,000 mark by April.
In contrast, it's believed the App Store for iPhone currently sits at the 350,000 mark, having crept up from just over 300,000 in January.
