DeNA expands global footprint as 10 new devs move on Mobage
DeNA's global tussle with social gaming rival GREE continues to gather momentum, with the firm announcing 10 new developers have signed up to deliver games to Mobage.

The interesting part of the announcement, however, is the wide variety of locations covered by said studios.

Those involved are based in everywhere from Brazil to Shanghai, bringing in developers aimed at western audiences as well as those focused on Asian markets.

Serving up titles to Mobage will be the likes of Toronto-based XMG Studio, Massive Damage – the outfit behind zombie release Please Stay Calm – and Brazillian outfit BigHut.

Also on board are Asian-based Cobalt Play Games and Joywinds, San Francisco studio Electrified Games, European developers Kyy Games and Oh BiBi, Runaway Play – based in New Zealand – and GameCloud Studios, which has bases in both California and Shanghai, China.

Speaking via email, XMG Studio founder and president Ray Sharma said integrating Mobage into an upcoming title would allow the firm to "attain higher visibility with a larger audience."

"Working with the incredibly talented team at ngmoco will allow us to streamline the publishing process and focus on what we are world renowned for: creating creative expression through gameplay," he added.

Written in its DeNA

In all, DeNA claims to have more than 43 million users in Japans, tapping into more than 2,000 games.

Its performance overseas, however, was not detailed by the firm.

"The Mobage network provides development studios a unique opportunity to reach millions of mobile game players throughout the world," said senior director of third party at DeNA's US subsidiary ngmoco, Barry Dorf.

"As a global mobile games platform leader, our dedication to building long-term partnerships has enabled us to work with some of the most esteemed developers worldwide to deliver engaging, top grossing games like Rage of Bahamut.

"This is an exciting time for Mobage as we strive to fulfill our commitment to bringing delight, innovation, and fun to mobile gamers."
