Given that Apple has long trailed its decision to deprecate UDIDs as a way of tracking users, most companies using them have been working on a plan b.
These are now being rolled out, with Tapjoy releasing a new version of its SDK.
It recommends that developers should upgrade immediately to the Tapjoy SDK 8.1 to ensure future updates of their games and apps are accepted by Apple.
A new approach
The company doesn't go into detail about its approach, other to say that "the use of MAC address is part of a workable solution".
It also points out that its previous use of UDIDs, was "limited" to "serve relevant ads and deliver virtual currency ... at the express request of consumers".
"Tapjoy will continue to work closely with the market to provide a long term solution that makes sense," commented CEO Mihir Shah, in a statement.
