Given iPad's performance at the tills outstripped even the most optimistic of predictions in 2010, it's unsurprising that scores of unannounced tablet prototypes are currently circulating throughout Apple's roster of rivals.
MeeGo has been pitched by both Nokia and Intel as a platform suitable for devices beyond smartphones netbooks, connected TV and in-car devices all on the roll call yet its tablet strategy remains largely under wraps.
A supposed snap of a Nokia tablet running the OS, however, threatens to change that.
Tablet times
Posted by Engadget and sourced by members of Mobile Review's forums, the unnamed device appears to be landscape orientated (the position of the Nokia logo when compared to its handsets cited as a clue) but may only have a 4.5-inch screen, acting as a prototype rather than a fully fledged release.
Other speculation suggests it could be a smartphone tablet hybrid rather than a strict 'iPad killer' an interesting move, if true, if only because that's one of the criticisms, rather than strengths, laid at the door of Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Either way, it's a device that's clearly not winging its way to retail any time soon, with Engadget pointing out it currently sports MeeGo in stock form, rather than one equipped with Nokia's UI customisations.
