Having raised $8.5 million in September, US location-based outfit Red Robot Labs has dropped a proportion of that cash, buying London, UK-based developer Supermono.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed
Supermono is best known for games such as MiniSquadron - released when Supermono was solo operator Tak Fung. It's since released innovative freemium racer Forever Drive.
According to Red Robot's Pete Hawley, the deal provides it with cutting-edge graphics capability to add to its location-based games and R2 platform.
It boosts the company's headcount to 33, of which 27 are in Palo Alto, CA and six in the UK.
Big guns
Red Robot, which was set up by execs from Playdom, EA, Lionhead and Crowdstar, has also added ex-Sony veep Phil Harrison as an advisor. Harrison is a general partner at VC company London Venture Partners.
Incidentally, Fung, Harrison and Hawley all used to work at Sony's London studio, while Fung and Hawley also worked together at Lionhead.
"I'm really impressed with what the team at Red Robot has achieved in less than a year," Harrison told Games Beat.
"Life is Crime has proven their ability to succeed in the mobile game space and the addition of the UK studio gives the company access to even more talent."
