Google's Andy Rubin took to his company's social network Google+ in order to post the latest Android activation figures.
Currently, 700,000 new Android devices are being activated daily, up from 550,000 devices in July. This reveals that the figure has been rising by an average of around 30,000 monthly.
Steady as she grows
"We count each device only once (i.e. we don't count re-sold devices), and 'activations' means you go into a store, buy a device, put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service," explained Rubin in a further post.
The monthly increase in the daily activations seems to have been maintained from the first half of 2011, as the figure rose from 300,000 to 500,000, indicating a monthly rise of around 33,000.
Still, previous projections from Michael DeGusta of website The Understatement that Android would reach 1 million daily activations by October 2011 have been proved slightly over zealous.
