Develop 2012 announces Indie Showcase games

Three awards up for grabs

Develop 2012 announces Indie Showcase games
Organisers of the Develop conference 2012 – which will run in Brighton from 10-12 July – have announced the ten titles that will be playable at this year's Indie Showcase.

Those finalists have been whittled down from more than 60 entrants, and a judging panel of industry experts will choose one overall Indie Showcase winner on the final day of the conference.

Attendees will be able to pick their own winner, too.

All ten games will be available to play from 11-12 July, and players can vote for their favourite title in the People's Choice award. A third prize is also up for grabs in the form of the Editor's Choice award.

The mobile showing

The finalists are an eclectic mix, and three of the ten are mobile titles.
The Missing Ink is a cross-platform MMO from Brighton dev RedBedlam, Captain Cat is Digital Tentacle's iOS game starring a nautical feline, and Great Big War Game is a PC and iOS RTS from Rubicon Development.

"All the developers who submitted titles really raised the quality bar this year with some truly exceptional titles having been submitted, making our job of narrowing them down to just ten incredibly tricky," said Adam Green – head of the judging panel and MD of Assyria Games Studio.

"Needless to say however; I think delegates at Develop in Brighton are going to have a lot of fun playing the final ten!"

Whittlin'

"For the second year the response to the Indie Showcase has been incredible and it is a real testament to the creativity of indie developers," explained Andy Lane, MD of Tandem Events.

"This year, we're delighted to have Unity on board as sponsors, but it's been a tough job for the judges to whittle the list down to these ten. However, everyone involved is excited to see the industry reaction when they have a chance to play them at Develop in a few weeks."

The full list of Indie Showcase finalists can be perused on the Develop in Brighton website, where full details of the conference can also be found.

Tickets
to the event are still available, with an Indie pass costing £95, a full one-day pass priced at £350 and a full 3-day pass costing £685.
