In RIM's current situation, it's going to highlight every small victory gained.
But even within that context, the news that Angry Birds Space has been released on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet - ahead of Windows Phone - is impressive news.
More good news comes as the game is priced at $2.99, compared to the $4.99 price for the first three games in the series.
Making progress
It demonstrates that RIM's new push into games, headed by ex-SouthEnd Interactive boss Anders Jeppsson, is gaining traction.
It also shows that the PlayBook Tablet OS - effectively BB10 - is production standard, something the C# restricted Windows Phone 7 isn't; at least in terms of games.
Microsoft will be hoping that will change with the release of Windows 8, but Rovio's confusion about when Angry Birds Space will be out for that OS demonstrates the problems developers are still having with the non-native platform.
