Microsoft has revealed some more details about its planned Windows Marketplace for Mobile application store, which is due to launch by the end of this year with the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS.
The big news is the 70 per cent revenue share for developers, matching that offered by the App Store and Android Market.
However, it's unclear how operators fit into this model, and if so, whether the 70 per cent share for developers is of the retail price of their apps, or the net price once operator cuts have been taken out.
Meanwhile, Microsoft will charge developers $99 a year to be accredited for Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and an extra $99 for every application they submit.
That's pretty steep, especially compared to Android Market. Microsoft is hoping to woo developers with its promises of greater transparency during the app submission process - greater than Apple's, we mean.
