Here's a fairly scary graph for anyone making iPhone games or apps.
According to a tweet from Arnold Kim at AppShopper, it's the number of apps (including updates we'd assume) that went live on the US App Store during mid-November 2009 to mid January 2010.
The lowest daily number is 232, while the two big peaks - 18th and 29th December - are 4,491 and 4,433 respectively, which is a lot of new content.
It's generally reckoned that games account for around a quarter of App Store downloads, so we'd assume they might account for a ballpark figure of around 20 percent of apps submitted, which if true would be getting on for 900 games and updates going live in each of those two peaks.
It's not really any great long term strategy but if I was a developer, I'd prefer to release my game or significant update during one of the low points.
