Analyst Ben Lorica at Radar.OReilly has been dissecting the iPhone's App Store figures to determine which developers are consistently producing the hits and getting their software into the Top 100 lists.
His figures are drawn from the larger players on the App Store, being limited to companies that have released 10 or more applications (games or apps), either free or paid, between February 2009 to 2010.
Lorica has determined Gameloft to be the most efficient paid developer operating on the App Store.
It announced that 22 percent of its Q4 FY10 sales - 7 million- were due to iPhone games.
The French mobile giant is closely followed by EA (which revealed that its digital arm is the most profitable part of the company), with Pangea, Gogo Apps and Glu Mobile filling out the top five.
Other game developers doing well are Freeverse, IUGO and ngmoco.
The free apps list tells quite a different story, however, with freemium companies such as Miraphonic (now owned by ngmoco), Zynga, PlayMesh and SGN ranking high.
