Zynga looks to improve iOS retention and drive downloads with Player Love Week
Following its December IPO, Facebook gaming giant Zynga is planning a major mobile assault in 2012.
Of course, this isn't to say it's been ignoring the platform as it's already released 16 iOS games; the latest being Scramble With Friends.
But in order to further encourage its mobile (and Facebook) audience to play more on-the-go, it's launched Player Love Week. Running until next Wednesday, playing one of its mobile game will see gamers rewarded with virtual currency or virtual goods.
ZeptoLab launches HTML5-powered Cut the Rope on Internet Explorer 9

The negative reaction given on iTunes and the game's failure to chart to-date suggest it wasn't a risk worth taking.

Developers like Icon Games Richard Hill-Whittall are certainly keen, however.
With two games ready for launch, he says, "No other handheld gaming device comes close in my opinion."

iPad 3 in March a reality, but October launch for iPad 4 'made-up nonsense' says Daring Fireball's Gruber
Like the poor, rumours about Apple's future hardware are always with us.
At least when it comes to the next expected announcement, there appears to be a consensus forming. As reported by Daring Fireball's John Gruber, the retina resolution A6-powered iPad 3 will roll out in March, with iPad 2 reduced in price to combat the new generation of Android tablets.
As for the likelihood of iPad 4 in October, Gruber refers to that as 'completely made-up nonsense'.
