Taking another step towards its debut in March, Samsung has launched bada Developers, a website designed to promote the strengths of its new open platform to the development community.
Bada is Samsung's attempt to pool various smartphone resources together in one technology, enabling thirdparty developers to seamlessly integrate social networking features, sensor-based controls and Flash video into their apps.
The new website comes equipped with a blog detailing the various tricks that can be pulled off using bada.
Samsung itself proclaims the platform as a "highly integrated developer environment that's ready when you are" in the site's promotional video.
"When designing bada Developers, we wanted to create a space where developers like you can get the information you need to quickly start creating apps with bada," it states.
"We realise that beginning on a new platform can seem daunting, so we wanted to make it as easy as possible."
Given bada is due to be rolled out across scores of Samsung handsets in 2010 (the company having announced that its mid-range segment would be the first to be bada-enabled in December), the platform has the potential to open up lucrative markets to any studios on board, the likes of EA, Capcom and Gameloft already behind the venture.
But Samsung is also keen on courting smaller studios' the website's forum encouraging cross-developer communication, and the company's bada Developers Challenge handing out cash prizes of $300,000 to the apps it feels make best use of the platform.
