The Game Trail brings YouTube discovery to the App Store

Another way to eyeballs

The Game Trail brings YouTube discovery to the App Store
Like the multiple heads of a hydra, today sees the launch of another option in terms of iPhone game discovery - The Game Trail.

Created by Swedish developer Fabrication Games, it's a website and free iPhone and iPod touch app that assuming you have an internet connection lets you stream video footage of iPhone games from YouTube, as well as reading descriptions and purchasing the games.

It employs a proprietary algorithm which is used to rank games according to review scores from multiple independent sources, as well as the app's users. Other segmentation includes a new section and a feature section.

Users can also directly submit YouTube videos to The Game Trail for inclusion into its database.

"The App Store has created a tremendous opportunity to expand mobile gaming and empower developers, but the sheer amount of content available has become an impediment to discovery," said Tommy Palm, president of Fabrication Games.

"We know that gamers rely on video trailers and unbiased reviews for their purchasing decisions and we have created The Game Trail to be a guide to the best games the iPhone has to offer."

You can find The Game Trail online, follow it via Twitter and Facebook, or download the iPhone app [App Store link].
