Game creation tool GameSalad adds iPad support

Gendai Games takes logical step

Game creation tool GameSalad adds iPad support
Considering drag-and-drop development toolset GameSalad already supports iPhone and PC, it's not surprising the company behind the service – Gendai Games – has to decided to add iPad to its catalogue of supported formats.

Nevertheless, its addition gives burgeoning developers another format to ply their trade on.

Games for gamers

"Game creation has long been limited to programmers, who until recently were gatekeepers of interactivity," said Gendai CEO and GameSalad co-founder Michael Agustin.

"The rapid adoption of GameSalad shows that people everywhere want to make games. GameSalad is for users of any skill level, and its ease of use is what has led to its success to date."

Indeed, GameSalad claims to be the fastest growing iPhone publishing platform, with "hundreds of games published to the iTunes App Store in just five months".

Having officially launched on iPhone back in September 2009 following a six month round of beta testing, the company will be hoping it hit the ground running when it comes to iPad.

It comes in two flavours. The Express version costs $99 per year, while the fully featured Pro version is $1,999 per year.
