One of the as yet unanswered questions about iPad games is how developers will deal with the pricing of their content.
Having crunched some numbers, I worked out the average price of announced iPad games was $3.52.
More significant was the finding that iPad games based on iPhone games are being priced $1.42 higher.
Level playing field
Developers releasing universal apps, which support iPad as well as iPhone and iPod touch in the same download, will only have the option of one price however.
Canadian studio IUGO, which is releasing four iPad games as universal apps, is trying to get the best of both worlds.
It will maintain the price of the iPhone versions of already released games Cliffed XL ($1.99) and Zombie Attack! Second Wave XL ($3.99) when they become universal apps on 3rd April.
Escape XL's price isn't yet announced as it's an all-new game for iPad and iPhone.
However, it's going to increase the price of its Implode! game by $1 to $2.99 when the iPad version is released.
And, no doubt, the winning strategy will be applied to its other games in coming days.
