Scoreloop: 29% of mobile gamers classify themselves as hardcore
It's not a surprise that most mobile gamers define themselves as casual, although the fact that 29 percent of people who play mobile games classify themselves as hardcore is higher than might otherwise be expected.

The vast majority - 71 percent - are happy to be labelled casual, moderate or social players.

The finding are part one of a series of three surveys into the activities of mobile gamers carried out for social networking platform Scoreloop by Turning Point Solutions.

Different strokes

As is often the case with such research, there are no striking conclusions; only further examples this is a varied and diverse market.

For example, the split between those who enjoy competitive multiplayer games, those who enjoy co-operative multiplayer games, and those who enjoy both is pretty even at a third each (30, 33 and 37 percent respectively if you want to be pedantic).

More interesting is the fact that mobile gamers are promisicious in terms of their activity. Two thirds multi-task while playing, with listening to music (79 percent), Facebook (65 percent), and watching TV (49 percent), the most popular other distractions.

If one thing is certain though, having more fun was cited as the most important reason for playing games with other people.
