The point of social games is that you can play them anywhere - at least that's what US middleware company Sibblingz is stressing following the release of developer CrowdStar's Happy Island for Android.
Alongside the previous versions of the game on Facebook, iPhone and iPad, the addition of Android also underlines the importance of the platform, which is currently outselling iPhone and BlackBerry in North America according to some figures.
Play anywhere
Sibblingz is using the launch - the first following the beta release of its engine in May - to underline the value of its game engine, which it defines as 'trans-platform', enabling the development of device-specific gameplay, not just ports across devices.
Happy Island players can log into their accounts across all platforms, sharing their friends via Facebook Connect.
"Taking Happy Island from Facebook to the iPhone was the first phase in making Sibblingz a complete cross platform solution," says Ben Savage, Sibblingz's founder.
"Now that Happy Island player can experience the game on Android, we're really hitting the trifecta of social gaming."
